The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

The Lorax

Dr. Seuss

Celebrate Earth Day with Dr. Seuss and the Lorax in this classic picture book about sustainability and protecting the environment!

I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.

Dr. Seuss’s beloved story teaches kids to treat the planet with kindness and stand up and speak up for others. Experience the beauty of the Truffula Trees and the danger of taking our earth for granted in a story that is timely, playful, and hopeful. The book’s final pages teach us that just one small seed, or one small child, can make a difference.

Printed on recycled paper, this book is the perfect gift for Earth Day and for any child—or child at heart—who is interested in recycling, advocacy, and the environment, or just loves nature and playing outside.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.

Resources to get involved in your community!

Taking care of the environment is a very important job. There’s something for every individual and/or family to do! Below you will find tips on how YOU can help to protect the environment.

WALK, BIKE, OR CARPOOL

  • Park that car! If the weather allows it, explore the outdoors and walk or ride your bike to work. Enjoy the beautiful planet that you are working to protect!

  • If you do decide to drive, carpool! That way, you’ll limit your carbon monoxide emissions and get to spend some time with a friend!

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

  • Think before you print! Is there a reason you need a hard copy of a document? Or will an electronic copy be enough?

  • Cut down on what you throw away, and consider reusing items if possible (ex: reuse the sauce jar from dinner as a vase for flowers!)

TURN OFF THE LIGHTS

  • Try to utilize natural light as much as you can by keeping the blinds open and letting in the sunshine.

  • If there’s no one else in the room you’re in, make sure to turn the light off as you leave.

LIMIT YOUR PERSONAL WASTE

  • Use your own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, rather than grabbing a disposable plastic bottle.

  • Bring reusable bags when going shopping instead of plastic or paper bags.
